Bridging the gap between knowledge and practice
When was the last time you bookmarked a new approach to leadership from something you read online or heard a great new idea about being a more agile or creative leader in a podcast only to get frustrated when you attempted to incorporate that approach or idea into your day-to-day practice? Getting from a new approach or good idea to leadership practice is challenging. It can be hard to figure out how to enact what we read or hear even when we’re highly motivated.
This is one of the reasons why Learning Forte has been developing its Strategic Imagination Models. Over the last few months we have been researching effective leadership practices, identifying the ones we feel are most crucial for leaders in today’s hybrid reality, and applying what we know about learning to develop a suite of models that support leaders in bridging the gap between knowledge and practice. As we engage in this work, we are learning more and more about how to come alongside our clients to equip you with the tools you need to be effective and to ensure you can use and share those tools in your context.
Each of our Strategic Imagination models is built upon solid research from the fields of learning and leadership and is designed to support a leader in their efforts to enact the wisdom of scholars and thinkers in their day-to-day leadership practice. The first model we have shared publicly is Plant Your Intentions. If you haven’t seen this model yet, here it is for you to download. Over the next few weeks, we will share additional models and opportunities for you to learn how to employ the models in your leadership practice. We can’t wait to reveal the fruits of our labor as we work to bridge the gaps between knowledge and leadership practice.
